Steel

Metal
Steel is a strong and versatile alloy primarily made of iron and carbon, with varying amounts of other elements like manganese, chromium, nickel, and molybdenum to enhance its properties. The carbon content, typically between 0.02% and 2.1%, determines its hardness, strength, and ductility.

Steel is classified into different types based on composition and intended use. Carbon steel is the most common, used in construction, pipelines, and machinery. Alloy steel contains additional metals for improved durability and is found in automotive and aerospace applications. Stainless steel, with at least 10.5% chromium, is corrosion-resistant and used in medical, food, and chemical industries. Tool steel is hardened for cutting tools and molds, while structural steel is designed for buildings, bridges, and infrastructure.
